Immigrated with my parents back in 1989, been in Canada for over 30 years.
Graduate with U of T with Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2000.
Starting working in the Banking industry since 2001, have experience in both personal and business side.
Volunteering the in the local charity, such as meals on wheel, North York harvest food bank, Junior achievement, Princess Margaret ride to conquer cancer to name a few.
Also, host many advice event for newcomer, medical professionals.
In my view BIA should be conducting the following tasks.
● providing support for immediate revenue generation for businesses or connecting businesses to financial support
● business outreach and understanding business needs
● keeping the community connected, Undertake safety, security and crime-prevention initiatives
● maintaining a focus on post-COVID-19 and the need to keep people wanting to come to North York by hosting different events or festival, Promote BIA as a business, employment, tourist

Edward Skira

I’m Edward Skira, an entrepreneur, urbanist, architecture, development and map enthusiast, and music geek. I grew up and still live in Willowdale. I remember the area from before the subway was built so I have a historical perspective of the area. Lived downtown for 20 years and am quite familiar with the St Lawrence Market BIA.I’m the co-founder and co-owner of Chart Communications since 1992. Based in Willowdale, Chart publishes UrbanToronto.ca, a website that tracks development, real estate and architecture across the GTA. I’m extremely knowledgeable about future development in the area. My career as an entrepreneur spans 30 years in the media, publishing and communications industries. I have experience in a myriad of areas including advertising, finance, marketing, online, promotions, sales, staffing and more. I have an Honors BA from York University and am currently a Board Member of the Edithvale Yonge Community Association and a member of the Willowdale BIA steering committee.

helped and are bonded together to help each other under Covid-19. I know this area very well and I have a strong passion
and energies to improve this town with a strong leadership.

Jaime Kim

My family operates an import/export business that specializes in raw chemicals and engineering plastics. We have been in business for the past 27 years. I am currently a director at the family company working in engineering, sales and business management.

My technical skills would be a valuable one for the board given that in recent times, Willowdale has been experiencing record-breaking levels of growth and population density. As a trained chemical engineer, I am able to deeply understand the technical projects that are coming to the Willowdale area such as ‘REimagining Yonge’ and the many high-rise projects. My skills in Sales and Business Management would allow me work closely with the board and the community, to convey clearly to the City and their Contractors, the concerns and opinions of our neighborhood’s businesses.

James Pang

The businesses in the BIA face both opportunities and challenges over the next few years stemming from major infrastructure projects, the economic disruption from the pandemic, and population growth. As a member of the BIA Steering committee, I am interested in transitioning to help the inaugural Board build a strong foundation, and deliver a vision and roadmap for the BIA to help businesses grow and succeed.

I bring a unique combination of business, entrepreneurship, management, & technology experience & perspective to the Board:

– I am an investor partner at Konjiki Ramen

– I was a member of the executive team at Platform Computing (once headquartered at 5001 Yonge), growing the company from a 5 person startup to $100M before being acquired by IBM

My name is Jay Lee, and I have been a resident of Willowdale for over 25
years. I graduated from Yonsei University in South Korea, and then came
to Canada to earn a degree in Computer Science from Sheridan College. I
have experience in website development and computer technology. I am now
the owner of small businesses, one being a travel agency and another
being a restaurant in Willowdale. The restaurant is a franchise a brand
in Korea called Yuppduk, made famous by K-pop idols such as BTS.

I look forward to contributed my experience to the board of directors
for the BIA to make Willowdale a more prosperous and dynamic place for

I’m a passionate Realtor® and Developer with extensive knowledge of the area. I have lived in Willowdale since the age of 6 and now call it home to our brokerage/development business(Yonge/Avondale) and home for my family, wife and three young girls (Yonge/Churchill).
I earned a business degree from Wilfred Laurier University and attended high school at Brebeuf College School.
I am very knowledgeable on developments coming and past projects in the area. We have also completed numerous commercial projects in the area.
I have a strong opinion about REimagining Yonge. I’ve attended all public meetings, wrote letters, and made two depositions at City of Toronto Committees.
I will bring my knowledge of the area, real estate, development, and marketing expertise to the BIA board. I hope to continue to assist in creating a BIA that will be good for all businesses in the area. I also hope to assist with the final designs and implementation of REimagining Yonge.

I have a unique opportunity to represent a larger corporate entity while also having the perspective of a small business operation. I want to be able to use my influence to help improve and positively impact the Willowdale Business Area and in fact I feel a responsibility to do so in every way that I can, especially in current times with the pandemic affecting every single business. Even as a corporate representative my responsibility lies in ensuring that all businesses can survive and thrive in and around our area. Starbucks cannot operate if the area is not prosperous as a whole. Being a part of the Board of Directors for the Willowdale BIA will allow me the opportunity to influence and give back to a community that we all have the privilege to be a part of. In the next four years I want help transform and support businesses in the area move from the pandemic to thriving.

As a director, I’d advocate for an unbiased board that adheres to representing the interests of all members within the BIA’s boundaries.
Also, I’d work to ensure the BIA provides measurable support to members including, but not limited to, economic stability and infrastructure enhancements.

This BIA is large in size representing many diverse ethnic groups, as well as businesses, which makes the Willowdale community unique. I would like to use my skills within the corporate real estate industry to assist in every way I can to make Willowdale thrive and more successful, especially during these times. The road ahead will be challenging for all, so I would like to dedicate my time and efforts for the betterment of the community at large. Pamela Kalsner

Nominee Bio :

As a member of the Steering Committee BIA4Willowdale I feel a responsibility to ensure that going forward the BIA works to bring about a more vibrant, thriving, appealing business district ultimately drawing customers and new business from the GTA and tourists to this area.
I bring well rounded expertise to the board. I currently oversee the management of a property within the BIA boundaries, North American Centre, a large mixed use property comprised of 2 office towers with retail (1.2 M sf.) at Yonge and Finch. Previous experience includes management of mixed use retail, office and residential properties on Bloor Street with significant involvement in the expansion and redevelopment of a flagship property, also a board member of The Bloor-Yorkville BIA. Prior to this I worked as an Asset Manager and analyst for a large pension plan strategic planning for regional shopping centers across Canada, as well as participating in investment decisions, development and appraisal functions.

Vijay Thomas

I have lived in the Willowdale Area for the last 17+ years and have owned commercial real estate in the Hullmark Corporate Centre and run a business in the Willowdale area since 2014. Decided to run for the board of the Hullmark Corporate Centre in 2016 and have been the President since 2018, representing 200 commercial condo owners and businesses in the Willowdale area.

In an attempt to get more energy and enthusiasm to the Yonge and Sheppard south east corner, founded the Willowdale Talks and Debates, which has a very successful debate of candidates who were standing for mayor of Toronto as well as debate for candidates standing for councillor of Willowdale, including John Filion.

Also recently got elected the President of the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce which is a board of trade for business in the India-Canada corridor.

Runs a successful software company Tangentia with offices in India, USA and Canada and Tangentia Ventures which is a venture capital firm.


Nominations will also be accepted from the floor; however, candidates who have not submitted a nomination form by the prescribed date will not have the information for the members distributed.  They will be given 2 minutes to present at the AGM.  

After the names and application forms of elected BIA board directors are provided to and compiled by the Toronto BIA Office, directors shall be appointed by North York Community Council.  Community council, may refuse to appoint to a board an individual selected by BIA membership vote. In this case, Community council may:  Leave the position vacant;  Appoint another person; or  Direct that a meeting of the BIA membership or the board be held to select another candidate for consideration.
